Facing testicular cancer was challenging, physically and mentally. I was diagnosed during the pandemic, mid job-change and whilst completing a Master’s degree. The combination of trying to continue living life to the fullest whilst facing cancer was a lot to digest and to navigate, which the conventional healthcare system was not equipped to provide guidance on by itself.
Everyone’s journey is unique, but speaking with those who have been through this themselves was vital. Though they didn’t provide professional advice, they were able to provide insights into what to expect at the different stages, providing anchor points, but also an insight into what to expect post treatment.
I am here to help in the same way. I am gay and though the vast majority of what we as men experience during this journey will be the same, some of the nuances may be different for those in the LGBTQ+ community, so I am also here to help those in the community.
